Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak, Saand Ki Aaankh, Dahi Cheeni And Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan: Quirky Movie Titles In Vogue!

Gone are the days when Hindi cinema used to thrive on formulaic films and genres. Similarly, gone are the days when movie titles were only about ‘pyaar', ‘dosti’ and ‘dil’. With new-age writers ruling the roost, the quirky, innovative titles are a breath of fresh air as the audience has already given a thumbs-up.  Here are some of the highly-anticipated Bollywood films which have caught the audience’s attention ever since they were announced.

Chhapaak

Meghna Gulzar is set to treat her followers with yet another gripping story. Starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey, the film, which has a quirky title Chhapaak, is based on the true story on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.

Dahi Cheeni

A usual tradition of having dahi cheeni before starting something new has inspired a story. After Cheeni Kam, this is perhaps the only film to play on the sweetness of Cheeni in its title. Starring debutant Khushali Kumar and the ever so charming R Madhavan, this story is set in the small town of Bhopal and is a quirky, slice-of-life entertainer with a twist.

Saand Ki Aankh

Based on world-renowned oldest sharpshooters, Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, Saand Ki Aankh is not just a sports biopic. The title of the film gets justified in the film's teaser where the protagonists Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar explain that all they see is the ‘bull's eye’ translated Saand Ki Aankh in Hindi.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan

With mainstream cinema finally opening up to the LGBTQ+ community and leading actors taking challenging roles, this film hints at the society's outlook towards the Pride community. The quirky title is all giving signs of living a careful life if your love interest's gender doesn't fall under the 'moral guidelines'. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, this fun social satire is all about being in love and walking on eggshells at the same time.

Khandaani Shafakhana

The hilarious trailer of this film starring Sonakshi Sinha got everyone’s attention since it deals with an interesting subject. The story of the film is about an inherited clinic, hence Khandaani Shafakhana. Sonakshi features as a sexologist in the film, something which can be quite a task to portray on the big screen.

Chicchore

A story about love and friendship, the film’s title gives a glimpse in what a fun film this one is going to be. Starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor, the title and storyline of the film have every youngster waiting for this film.
